Pharos App Errors
Known Errors
The Pharos Print app is structured the same as the Web Print site but is prone to be painfully slow on some devices.
Additionally, just like the Web Print client, you will need to initialize your account before you can sign in to the app. Learn how to do that here.
The app may need to be occasionally closed and/or restarted if it freezes up. We recommend giving it time to fully load each element before proceeding through the menu to mitigate freezes. On some devices, you may just decide to use a different print option, such as the drivers or the Web Print client.
BYU Print and Mail does not maintain or develop the app, so we are limited in how we can improve its user experience, but we do still choose to make it available as an option for convenience.
Print Failed Error:
Sometimes when printing a file uploaded to My Print Center, the printer remains unresponsive and after a few minutes a notice is displayed in My Print Center that the print has failed.
The "[Free Print] ... Printing Failed" Error
Not all .pdf files are created equal; some programs generate .pdf files that are more complicated than others. Due to limitations with the Pharos Print server, certain .pdf files may fail to print when uploaded to the server directly from the Web Print client.
To get around this, you can upload your file to the Pharos system from the print drivers, which, due to the different way they operate, should allow the printers to print your file.
More information on the print drivers can be found here.
